CARNIVAL VENICE 2007 (from Euro 445 per person)

The Venice Carnival is world famous - it always takes place during the ten days leading up to Shrove Tuesday. Carnival, being a pre-Lent festival, means 'farewell to meat' and is celebrated throughout Italy. It was first held in Venice in the 11th century and consisted of over two months of revelry, until it fell into decline during the 18th century.
It was revived in 1979 with great success and nowadays it is a great excuse to don a mask and costume, parade around the city, enjoy the live music in the main squares of the city, the events organised by the tourist board and is a wonderful open-air festival where everyone can join in. Fantastic costumes are displayed in St Mark's Square and Venice is the perfect spot for amazing photographs.

DAY 1 On your arrival at Venice Marco Polo airport, a water taxi will transfer you across the lagoon to your hotel via the Grand Canal. Arrive and check in to your hotel in Venice. Time to explore the city on your own, full of artistic heritage, architecture and mystery. Welcome Dinner and accommodation in hotel.

DAY 2 After braekfast we will start our guided tour, highlights of your walking tour are St. Mark's Square and the Byzantine Basilica, lavish Doge's Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs. Then watch Venetian Glass Blowers fashion their delicate objects in the age-old manner. Afterwards you will gather to see and be seen in one of Venice's great San Marco cafes for "Cocktails in Costume", followed by a walk through the streets of Venice to join the Parade of Costumes in San Marco. Dinner and accommodation in hotel. Later our options provide you with an after-dinner party featuring, open bar, a program of entertainment with international artists, games, music and dancing throughout the night.

DAY 3 A day to relax after the parties. Continue to be part of Carnival or tour the city or one of the nearby islands, or take an optional gondola ride. Dinner and accommodation in hotel.

DAY 4 After breakfast, check out of your hotel and departure from Venice.
